An Introduction...

A meeting a tad overdue, allow me to introduce myself, I am Michelle Eaton, currently a student at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly MA. I am in my junior year here, studying for my Bachelor degree in Photography, which I will receive in May of 2011. I have been interning with Melissa since the fall, and have enjoyed this experience very much! I've been shooting for as long as I can remember, when I was a little girl I always wanted to figure out a way to stop time and have it become something tangible for me. Photography worked its way into my life in ways that have immensely changed it, and now, my goal is to create something beautiful, and I'd like to help change someone else's life, or at the very least, the way that they look at the world.
Already, in a few short years I have crossed huge gaps to cover the necessary skills to fulfill my field.
I am currently working on multiple projects for school exploring light and color in natural and controlled environments. This is a different venture for me because usually I focus on portraits, specifically of bands (and live shows as well). I'm trying to step away from straight portraits, just as a chance to challenge myself. So far, I have mostly focused on night street photography and have pleasantly had great results. I currently have a flickr page, which I'll link to later on, and my own blog which I update at random intervals when I remember that I have it! :]

Melissa asked me to post a couple of my own photos, and here's a little eye candy for your viewing pleasure!

Boudoir Part Deux

Some of you may have read our recent Valentine's Day Boudoir post but for those of you who are not as intimately familiar with the popularity and prevalence of boudoir photography, here is a little background information:

Boudoir means "bedroom" in French. Deriving from the French verb bouder, meaning "to pout," a boudoir was originally defined as a "pouting room" where, in earlier times, a sulky young lady might be sent so she could pout in private. By modern standards, boudoir photographs are anything but sulky! As you will see below, they are intimate portraits that celebrate the beauty of the female form.

As my first assignment as Melissa's intern, I had the pleasure of assisting a pre-Valentine's Day boudoir shoot with the lovely Valerie. A special thanks to her sister, Nicole, for assisting with hair and makeup and to Valerie for bringing the best props...cupcakes, roses and beautiful intimate apparel.

Introducing the lovely Valerie...

Boudoir shoots aren't just for Valentine's Day! Boudoir shoots and related gifts like boudoir books are increasing popular among bridal clients looking to surprise their husbands with a unique wedding present. Whatever your occasion, if you are interested in booking a shoot, please contact the studio to make a reservation.

I would love to hear your thoughts! What did you think of this post?

Mandy & Eddie's Engagement

Saturday my new intern Chelle (pronounced Shelly who you'll be meeting very soon! ) was nice enough to spend the day with me. I was feeling a little under the weather and she really helped me out so a big thank you to you Chelle!

First we transformed my office into a studio and shot a killer boudoir session which is top secret until Valentines Day. I'll tell you more about that later. Then we took a drive to Jamestown, RI for Mandy and Eddie's engagement shoot. It was a chilly day down by the water at Beavertail Park and the way the wind was blowing we could only stay out in short bursts before our fingers turned numb. I'm talking frostbite numb. During the shoot I kept telling them to think warm thoughts and I think it worked because they don't look as cold as it felt. Needless to say the shoot was a bit shorter than usual even with our attempt at an indoor location at the Jamestown Public Library.

The story of the way Mandy and Eddie fell in love romantic one. After their initial meeting in a boƮte (that's my romantic word for bar:) in Florida, Eddie swept Mandy off her feet by taking her for a sail in his boat down to the Keys. They said they both knew right away that they were the ones for each other and I don't know about you, but that trip to the Keys would be enough to sweep any girl off her feet! They will soon return to Florida from this cold and blustery New England Weather and right now I can't help but feel a little jealous!
